The short politics

In recent months and years, there has been a raise of something that I like to call “short politics”. Meaning the length of time the politician stays in one position is getting smaller and smaller. The meaning of fast fashion (or similar terms) has been around for many years, due to chains like H&M making cheap items and circulating the line up all the time, so that the consumer is basically buying more and in shorter gaps. See fast fashion.

The same has become more common in politics, where it was common to see the same face for many years and the politics being made to last for generations. For example, the decisions about trade were made to show stability and long term gains for both parties. Now it seems that the decisions are made because of short term gains, such as showing better job polls just for the elections’ months, but not even thinking about what will happen after the election hype is done.

Politicians and even ministers have been fired from Finland to Brazil in 2020 at a very rapid pace and I think it begs the question as to why is this happening and who is gaining from this, because it’s certainly not the people nor the state/country. The politicians are being used as scapegoats by presidents and prime ministers to show that action is being taken and the fault was with the politician (who in some cases didn’t even have time to make many (or even any) decisions, but is more just a pawn in a political game).

This overheating must be stopped as it will only feed the cycle itself and the end result being a lot of bodies and nobody to really blame. How about taking a stand and stopping this cycle all together by appointing politicians from different parties and different viewpoints for at least a year at a time? The countries and the whole world needs stability most of all. Stability of government gives the people security and feeling of knowing what will happen tomorrow, thus making people spend more – and that will keep the economy rolling.
