Is Ok Not To Be A Super Human

We grow up thinking that we have to be the very best we can be. That we must want to have it all. We need to be a successful person, goal oriented. Healthy, the looking good kind of healthy. Strong. Well read and traveled. Talented. Good spirited. Fun to be around. Positive. An amazing person with an inspiring love story to tell. Someone who is “realizing stuff” and making dreams come true while earning a six figure salary.

What happens then when you are…not those things?

Not everyone is a prodigy and has an innate talent for something extraordinary. Or is the most beautiful person you have ever met. What happens to the ones that cannot make all dreams come true?

Some may say those tired lines such as “if you really want you can have it all”, “ you can make time if you are focused on something” and so on.

Nowadays we are surrounded by those catch phrases and self- help cheap threads repeated nonstop by a motivational speaker, sorry, coach -this seems the more PC/trend/ appropriate term right now- and we cannot dare feeling like a failure when there are so many tools to help you “be best”.

This whole scenario of wellness and greatness that we have been dumped into sometimes can make us feel guilty for feeling like a failure.

Feeling like a failure is normal. No one can get it right all the time. Sometimes you did all the best you could, you really tried but it doesn’t always depend on you. We need to realize that is ok not to be super human. Is ok to be just “normal”, there is nothing wrong being normal. Is ok to fail and feel bad until you feel good again in order to regroup yourself and think of a new strategy. The whole mentality of the second place being the first loser needs to die. Is impossible for everyone to win all the time and no one should leave a life in frustration because they are not the best version of themselves according to society.

We need to learn how to be sad so we can learn (and appreciate) how to be happy with who we are, not with who we could be.
